About the creation of Mousetrap

For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to make something great but I could never stick with any one idea until one day while I was bored I doodled a one-eyed cat character on a mini whiteboard. I showed the character to my parents and they liked it so much I decided to turn that doodle into a multi-year-long project. For the past three years I’ve been developing Mousetrap, making characters, writing plot points, and learning how to draw better, thanks to the support of my friends, family, and interested strangers I now have enough confidence to start posting on this website.

Spoiler Warning! This section is dedicated to the main characters in Mousetrap, if you don’t want spoilers for the main characters then don’t keep reading. Thank you.

Mouse: Mouse is the main and title character of Mousetrap, he’s a 16-year-old cat boy with one giant eye.
He’s anti-social and a bit stubborn but he’s the most loyal and entertaining friend you could ever have, he’s got a lot of problems but he’ll try his best to work through them for his friends and with their help. He can be quite possessive of his friends but not with his family because he’s not worried about his mom or his sister replacing him, he’s blood-related to them after all.
Cinnamon: Cinnamon is Mouse’s best friend and only friend other than his sister, She’s a 16-year-old dog/bee with a driver’s license and the most common sense out of all the teenagers in this comic.
She’s not the most confident but she is when she needs to be, she’s got a rocky relationship with her parents and she doesn’t have siblings so Mouse’s mom has accepted her as part of the family.
Neo: Neo is Mouse’s sister and one of his only friends, she’s a 14-year-old cat girl going through a “punk phase” while trying to find herself. She has ADHD and a single ear pierced because she was too scared to get the other pierced,
she says she only wears one earring because it’s cool but she’s lying.
Arson: Arson is one of the most confusing creatures in Mousetrap, he’s a 15-year-old salamander/unicorn/tri-clops/mammal thing (??) who has a passion for acting and a streak of violence since the 3rd grade.
His moms and dad have sent him to professionals in the past and he has made a lot of progress, he moved from Australia to California a couple of months before the beginning of Mousetrap.
Caleb: Caleb is one of the few extroverts in the comic, they are a 15-year-old bird with self-esteem issues and anxiety, they are the second teenage character with a normal amount of common sense.
Despite their feminine appearance, they are AMAB (Assigned Male At Birth) but male birds tend to be the more feminine ones, they enjoy doing their makeup despite the struggle of not having hands they use their talons to do everything.
Meeba: Meeba is (as his name suggests) an amoeba, a single-celled organism, there are only a few hundred humanized amoebas in the world and he’s one of the only ones other than his family living in their town. Because of this other people tend to treat him as some cool different creature and not just a normal person, this makes it hard for him to make friends or even just talk to people so he stays silent most of the time except when he talks to Caleb. He’s a gamer with anger issues as well, but the anger issues are unrelated to his games.
Quinn: Quinn is a 30 sumthin-year-old robot possum who died in the late ’70s, he died with disco if you will, he had a lot of problems when he was alive but after he died he turned his “afterlife” around (lol), and decided to learn and master magic. He is now one of the most proficient magic users in hell, he loves teaching people about magic and he loves helping out teenagers, he remembers what it was like to be a teenager and how hard it was for him so he tries his best to help out the people around him.
Sister Michael: Sister Michael is a nun who died in the 16th century in her 60s, she’s a deer who died and went to heaven.
While there she observed earth and learned about healing magic so that she could take on the role of a guardian angel, sadly since she is not an angel she could not do what she wanted, but luckily since Mouse started to mess with the afterlife she was sent to deal with him. She decided to teach him about faith and the power of healing magic, she has a similar motive to Quinn but wants to teach Mouse more controlled and limited magic.
Jerry: Jerry is the only real “human” in Mousetrap despite his appearance he is still human,
he’s in his late 40s but has no memory of his life. He seems creepy but he’s pretty wholesome he loves kids and learning about the world, and he’s very smart even though he doesn’t have a lot of knowledge about the world. He hates violence and would rather die than hurt someone on purpose unless it’s to protect someone else even then he still won’t hurt anyone too much, he could never kill someone but he can stomach violence if it’s for a good cause.
